Otha facilitates fun and lively drum circle events from the deep belief that rhythm has the power to build community, promote well-being, and create joy. He supports awareness of the presence of rhythm in every act of living from his knowledge that “our heartbeat and breath is the rhythm of our soul and the connection to literally everyone.”
Otha Day, working with groups of participants from 2 to 2,500, leads drum circles for all types of educational environments, wellness, spiritual, and community celebrations, corporate, and motivational speaking events.
As a Social Justice Facilitator, Otha leads “Drum2Talk” workshop intensives using rhythm and in-depth conversations as the means for racial-conflict healing and transformation.
Otha has taught on the faculties of several schools in New England. In addition to teaching college courses on Rhythm Based Creativity and Communication, Music of the Harlem Renaissance, General Music Theory, and Jazz History, he has given many concerts as both solo and ensemble pianist and teaches classical and jazz piano.
