Becket Athenaeum Social Media Policy
This policy governs the Becket Athenaeum’s participation in online venues and social media, defined here as any facility for online publication and commentary, including but not limited to social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. All posts and comments will be regularly monitored and reviewed for content and relevance. The library social media is maintained by the Executive Director and the Becket Athenaeum Staff. The library reserves the right to remove any comments or postings that:
are inappropriate and offensive, including comments (and links to other pages) that defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten, or violate the legal rights of others, including racism, hatred, slander, threats, obscenity, violence, and/or vulgarity;
are spam or advertisements;
have personal information about another person or that violates a person’s privacy interests;
includes copyrighted material belonging to another person/entity;
contains links to inappropriate or offensive websites;
contains solicitations of commerce;
are not related to the library.
Participation in the Becket Athenaeum’s social media implies agreement with all library policies. The library does not collect, maintain, or otherwise use the personal information stored on any third-party site in any way other than to communicate with users on that site.
