Planning for Becket Land Conservation and Outdoor Recreation

  • Becket Athenaeum 3367 Main Street Becket, MA, 01223 United States (map)

All Becket residents are invited to this hybrid event co-sponsored by the Becket Arts Center and the Becket Athenaeum!

Registration is required and you have the choice between attending in person and masked or via Zoom.

We expect to host the presenters and in-person attendees at the Becket Athenaeum (3367 Main St, Becket). If registrations exceed our capacity, we will notify attendees of the new location.

This program will provide the first showing of the 2022 Open Space & Recreation Plan Survey. The town of Becket is updating its 2006 Plan, which will describe and envision a rural Becket landscape that maintains and protects beloved natural and recreational landscapes for current and future generations.

These natural landscapes can include key wildlife habitats, forests, water supplies and wetland resources. Outdoor recreation areas provide an array of public benefits, from enjoying the quiet contemplation of nature to birdwatching, boating, fishing and hunting, hiking, and snowshoeing. It can also mean enjoying the use of public parks, playgrounds, walking routes, and the town beach.

The planners and local volunteers spearheading this effort want the updated plan to reflect the current needs and desires of Becket residents, so consider attending and voicing your thoughts. The event will feature a series of poster-sized maps, a short presentation about the project, and many opportunities for you to share your ideas.

This event will be recorded and, once edited, available here.
